Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Vilnius
Welcome to Vilnius. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Relax or spend time exploring the wonders of this city. Free time and overnight in Vilnius.
Day 2: Full day tour in Vilnius
After breakfast meeting with your guide. Full day to discover Lithuania’s capital Vilnius. Walking on foot you will visit main places of interest – The Cathedral and its square, the Tower of Gediminas, Vilnius university courtyards, Gothic St. Anne’s church and Bernardine’s monastery complex, the Gates of dawn with Virgin Mary painting, Town Hall square. During excursion you will entry St. Johns’ church tower – the highest church tower in Vilnius. Next you will go by the car to visit Baroque pearl of Lithuania – St. Peter’s and Paul’s church. Later guide will escort you to Lithuanian cuisine restaurant to taste Lithuanian dishes. Evening in Vilnius on your own – explore oldest Pilies’ street, go shopping in Gediminas avenue, visit unique Užupis Republic. Overnight in Vilnius.
Day 3: Full day tour to Kernavė and Trakai
After breakfast meeting with your guide. A day to discover two former capitals of Lithuania – Kernavė and Trakai. Firstly, you will drive to Kernavė – the very first capital of Lithuania, which is known for its 5 mounds complex. Here you will be able to climb on some of mounds and enjoy breath-taking view to river Neris valley and its surroundings. Tour proceeds to Trakai – the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In Trakai you will visit medieval Insular Trakai Castle surrounded by lakes and housing the exhibition of Sacral Art. During the excursion guide will introduce you with the Karaites history and heritage, also will offer to try traditional dish – kibinai. In the evening you will come back to Vilnius for overnight.
Day 4: Full day tour to Šiauliai
After breakfast meeting with your guide. You will drive to Šiauliai district and visit unique site - The Hill of Crosses, which has over 100000 crosses. The Hill of Crosses is unique historical and architectural monument, unique composition of folk art. From this hill Pope John Paul II blessed all Lithuanian people and Cristians of Europe. Later you will go to Šiauliai and visit main town sightseeing places – “seven objects of the Sun”, Sundial square with monument Šaulys (The Archer). In the afternoon you will have opportunity to visit chocolate’ museum. Overnight in Šiauliai.
Day 5: Full day tour to the seaside
After breakfast meeting with your guide. Trip to the seaside. Visit Palanga – the main seaside resort of Lithuania. Visit Palanga Botanic Park with 22 meters-high dune called Birute Hill, Tiskeviciai Palace better known as Amber Museum, the bridge of Palanga, main Basanavičius street with numerous shops, cafes, etc. In the afternoon drive to Klaipėda. Here you will visit the old town of Klaipėda – Theatre square and the statue of a girl Ann from Tharau, “Crafts yard”, Arch, Monument to the United Lithuania, monument to M. Mazvydas and square, numerous cozy old town streets. Free evening and overnight in Klaipėda.
Day 6: Full day tour to Curonian Spit
After breakfast meeting with your guide. You will have full day to visit the Curonian Spit. Morning ferry to Neringa – visit to Juodkrantė, climb the Hill of Witches decorated with wooden sculptures based on Lithuanian legends and folk tales. Stop for the breathtaking view at a bird sanctuary. Further drive to Nida, a small old fishermen village famous for its majestic seashore sand dunes, Thomas Mann's summerhouse, neo-gothic church and old ethnographic cemetery. In the evening trip back to Klaipėda for overnight.
Day 7: Full day tour to Kaunas
After breakfast meeting with your guide. Trip to Kaunas – second largest city of Lithuania. On the way to Kaunas stop at Panemunė for the visit to Panemunė castle. In Kaunas you will visit the old town and its main sightseeing objects – fourteenth century Kaunas castle ruins, the Town Hall and Cathedral, the Church of Vytautas, Perkūnas House (Thunder House), will walk through the Laisvės avenue, will visit the most famous Lithuanian composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis National art museum. Later you will drive to visit the pearl of baroque – seventeenth century Pažaislis monastery and church of the Blessed Virgin Mary visitation complex. Overnight in Kaunas.
Day 8: Full day tour to Druskininkai
After breakfast meeting with your guide. Drive to Druskininkai – one of the most famous wellness Spring and SPA resorts of Lithuania. You will drive through the biggest Dzūkija National Park – the greenest region of Lithuania. On the way to Druskininkai visit Grūtas Park – the exposition of the soviet sculptures and seventeenth century Liškiava monastery and Holy Trinity church ensemble. In Druskininkai you will have free time to enjoy various SPA’s and wellness programs. Druskininkai offers a wide variety of health treatment services: herbal, bubble, honey and other baths, massages, krio- and magnet therapy, various health care, beauty and weight loss packages, etc. Overnight in Druskininkai.
Day 9: Day discovering Vilnius
In the morning meeting with your guide. Trip to Vilnius. Free day for shopping / visiting operas/ theatres/ discovering cultural live of Vilnius. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Vilnius.
Day 10: Departure day
Breakfast at your hotel and free time in the morning. Private transfer from your hotel to Vilnius airport for your flight home.
Grand tour price is from 1 300 Eur per person based on availability and two people sharing a standard twin or double room.
